Our first morning was a good one, with knowing that we were going to finally make it to the tip! We made our way first through a bush track with a small creek crossing.
A little further up the road and we get to a sign, 7 more k's until we get to the parking point where we will then walk the rest of the way to the Tip of Australia.
We finally made it to the beach and parking point.
After a look at the beach we took off for our journey over the mountains and headed for the Tip!
The hills just kept coming! And then,
Check out Maurice's eye's in this pic!
Our first attempt at Flick's pic at the tip!
Second time was better on Dad's shoulders!
After a rest, something to eat and drink and a chat with many other people making the same journey, we then made our way back over the hills & back to the beach where we saw some local people getting out their fishing nets & hunting fir their dinner.
From here we went to Somerset Beach, this is on the East side of the tip. There wasn't a real lot to see there, so we decided to take a drive down the bush 4WD track to a place called Fly point. We were following another car with a camper van in tow. Not far down the track they got bogged, so the only thing to do was try and help them out of course. We didn't think we were that far into the soft sand so we hooked up with our recovery gear to only get stuck ourselves! BUGGER!!! We then had to wait for another guy to come along and get us out. We then unhooked their camper van and pulled it out, and the other man who got us out got the other people's car out! A 2 hour adventure that we didn't expect! Kids were so great while this was happening. And, we didn't get to Fly point.
Next, we went to Punsand Bay on the West side of the tip, we had a cool drink & some chips there because it was too late for lunch by this stage! We then headed back to camp, stopping for Fuel at Bamaga and the two old guys that we tried to help tow out ended up next to us that night. We asked them to have dinner with us, Trent cooked up some meat and veggies, it was yummy!

So, it was a great day! We were very pleased with ourselves for making to the Tip! The two old guys we had dinner with, one was a retired dairy farmer, who now has a few beef to keep him going, and the man he was travelling with was from o/s and a friend he wanted to show the tip to. Nice men and the kids even have them wrapped around their little fingers!
Anyway, must go now and I will tell you all about our trip to TI (Thursday Island) in my next blog.
Cheers, The Guye Gang! :)
