Howdy!
We had our trip to Fraser Island today and it was great fun! So pleased that we made the decision and effort to go.
Took the Manta Ray Barge across from Inskip Point (near Rainbow beach) to the Island. From there it was full on! straight off the ferry onto the Sand! The car that got off in front of us bogged itself as soon as it was off, so that was a little warning to us about the conditions ahead! Once we got going and stuck to the hard sand we were on our way! It was rather a long journey (with Flick screaming in the background at times) up to our first stop at Maheno Wreck. The views along the beach were so beautiful that I was pinching myself at times. The ocean so blue, sand so almost white looking and the waves rolling in and out! The wreck itself was good to see, a little smelly and just about all rusted away - not all that much left of it. We stopped here for a while and the kids had a run and a snack before we got back into the car and drove back down the coast line. We were more relaxed about the sand driving this time. You could do up to 80km/h and all road rules applied as you would driving on normal roads. We also saw two planes over our heads which landed almost right in front of us on the beach as we were driving along! The kids thought this was great.
We drove to a place (once we found it) called Cronwells Inland Road Entrance. This road was a 4WD track along the Central Lakes Scenic Drive. OMG! It took 3 hours to cover 30kms! It was classed as a Minor 4WD track but we felt very different. I think the Mummy's Toorack Tractor now has a few more battle scars other than the shopping trolley marks! The old cruiser might be old but she got us through. It was very bumpy and rough at points - the kids loved it like that. Flick and Maurice managed to have little power naps through it which was good, but their heads were rocking from side to side that's for sure!
The track covered mostly tall blackbutt - satinay forest but opened into scribbly gum and banksia woodland. Rather amazing the contrast of the different areas so close to each other. We stopped at a place called Central Station for lunch at a picnic area. We didn't get time to look at the Lakes, as we needed to be back on the beach before the tide was too high! We also stopped at a place called Eurong for an Ice cream and drink before heading back to the sand along the beach. As we were driving along we noticed just how quickly the tide was coming in and Trent really had to move us along. Saw a Dingo in the distance as we were going flat stick, so didn't get a chance to go over (sand too soft) and check him out. It was probably best we stayed away anyhow, they say they like kids!!!! As we were getting closer to where the barge was to collect us from the sand was getting softer and softer. Trent had the accelerator flat to the floor and we weren't going all that far, except closer to the water!!!! My heart was in my mouth, I thought that I may have had to swim out of the cruiser and of course Flick was laughing in the background at this stage and Pheobe and Maurice weren't all that sure. Anyway, we got through it without having to take the inland track to the barge (this would have cost us more time and the barge stops at 5.30pm). Once back on the barge my heart slowed down and I asked Trent how he was. Trent said he was a little concerned but OK. I think if our car was more equipped to do things like this I would have felt more at ease. Also, seeing that first person stuck straight away I guess didn't help knowing that we were travelling alone!!!
Overall a great experience for us all and it's a place that we would like to go back to one day when the kids are a little older and then camp and cover a few more of the tracks and see some of the lakes.
I will try my hardest to get some pics up soon of our day at Fraser Island. We are moving on tomorrow, heading towards Hervey Bay - providing that we don't get side tracked. Hope you are all keeping well.

Our Morning Feeding Wild Dolphins & Trip to Rainbow Beach.
Hi all!
Just a quick update for our adventures today.We were up early (as usual!) and by 7.15am in the car and off to feed the wild Dolphins near one of the jetty's at Tin Can Bay. We had to roll up our shorts and go almost all of Pheobe's leg height into the water! There were two Dolphins that we saw today, one male and one female. Pheobe was most excited to be seeing them and when we got to feed them it was even more exciting! Maurice & Krista fed them too. Flick was a little bit too little to understand it all, so Trent and Flick took the photo's and met a Pelican! Here are some photo's now:

So the mid morning and into lunch was spent at Rainbow Beach checking it all out and from this we have decided to stay on an extra day here at Tin Can Bay and do a day trip over to Fraser Island. We will take a ferry across (car and all) and do what we can in the time we have to do it tomorrow. Looking forward to it. I have told the kids that the Dingo's like little people, so they better be good!!!!

Anyway, that's all for this post. Thanks Dr. Joe for the advice with Flick today on the phone. We got her in to see a Dr. and we are hoping that time will do away with the bug that she has been carrying with her this whole trip. We do have something to help with the cough and a script for a different antibiotic in another week if she hasn't improved!!! And boy, I hope she has. In saying all this though she has been managing very well and wanting to be part of it all. I think at times just testing because she isn't 100% well and perhaps a little tired because we are fitting so much into her day and she isn't getting the usual sleep that she would if we were home. Thanks also to Kat for the ph advice when I spoke with her today!!! It was also lovely to speak with Nannie Jac and GD on the phone, the kids do miss everyone and wish you could all be here with them.
Well, must go now and get some sleep before our adventure to Fraser Island. Stay well everyone and we will do another post soon.

We have Arrived at Tin Can Bay in QLD!
Howdy everyone!
Well, its been a full couple of days for us. Yesterday we did all our washing that we needed and then took a drive from Hastings Point to Surfers via Tweed Heads and a few other places along the coast. We ended up at Pacific Fair where there was a fun playground that the kids had a go at. Here are the pics

So, today we moved on. We have finally arrived at Tin Can Bay. It's a little fishing town that we thought would be nice to explore. We made this decision because when we stopped at Gympie for lunch we went into the information centre and asked the man there whether it was a good place to stop and he said Yes. So here we are and we will most likely head to Hervey Bay when we are done looking here. Apparently we can go feed a dolphin, there is a beach nearby called Rainbow Beach which is popular for visitors, and it's also easy access to Fraser Island. Anyway, we will have some time here to see and do. We had fish n chips for dinner tonight which were pretty good. The man here at the Top Tourist park is familiar with Winch and some of those that live and have lived there. His name is Ian Stevens. A really great bloke who once knew where we came from wanted to chat for ages. He is now calling us the 'Winch Kids'. He did some shearing in his earlier days near Winch and worked for Des Cameron. Anyway, he has been more than helpful to us and I just thought I'd let you all know. If you come this way, this is the place to stay.

This is Flick feeding who we named 'Roger Rabbit'. He came to visit us a couple of mornings when we were at Hastings Point Caravan Park. The kids thought he was wonderful, especially when Trent picked him up and let them all feed him!

Getting back to travelling today, we took a detour because we saw a sign that said 'The Big Pineapple'. We got rather shattered though because when we got there it was all closed down and you couldn't even drive into the car park that once was!
Anyway, that's all the news for now. Hope everyone is keeping warm and dry, we are!!! The weather is lovely and warm, although it is rather cold at night.

So, things are still going well. Hope you enjoy the pic's - Felicity seems to have taken the spotlight this post, but I'm sure it won't be long before someone else does!
We had a nice day in the sun at Byron Bay today. We had a little miss hap on the way with Pheobe having a vomit in the car! - she told us her tummy was hungry before it happened. Anyway, we kept moving on once we cleaned her up and once we got back to the van we cleaned the car seat, car and all the clothes out and we are back to normal again! Pheobe was well for the rest of the day, so not really sure what caused it.
We had a feed in the camp kitchen tonight, just for a change. Pork Sausages, Salad and Pasta was on the menu! Ice cream for seconds! You wouldn't be a true Guye if Ice cream didn't come into it somewhere!
Anyway, not much else to report. We have a big washing day ahead of us tomorrow and some last minute pool swimming to do according to the kids! We leave on Wednesday from Hastings Point, but we still aren't that sure where we will be heading too! Got our Census form delivered tonight, so I'll be doing my homework tomorrow night I guess - along with making a decision as to where we might go next.

Made it to our new destination - Hastings Point.
Howdy Everyone!
Well, it's been a few busy days now, but we are having a great time and soaking up all the sun we can get! Travelling today from Coffs to Hastings Point we even used the aircon in the car!
So, since we last blogged! Our Mattress isn't that much better with the underlay, but we are managing! The kids are all sleeping well and Trent has put a little board(which there was a trip to Bunning's for!) up along Flick's bunk bed at the bottom and now I can sleep easier knowing she won't fall out! Speaking of Flick and falling out - she took a tumble yesterday out of the caravan door onto the ground outside, but with only a little scratch and a bit of a shock to her system, she's all good.
At a request from Pheobe, we took another trip to the Big Bannana. Pheobe was very keen to have another go on the toboggan ride. They all (meaning Trent, Pheobe, Maurice and Felicity) all had a go. It made Pheobe's day!!!! It was the Coff's Cup day (horse racing) on Thursday and we went into the main street and had lunch in an open cafe where there were farmers markets going on because of the cup day. It was rather strange when we first got into town and saw people all dressed up. It wasn't until we had our visit to Bunnings that we found out what was going on - Bunnings doesn't close for the cup!!!
On our journey into Coffs one day we also took a drive into all the little beach towns - some were really lovely, some you could pass on. We did come across a house that was for sale right on the beach, we will buy it when we win the lotto and you can all come for a holiday!! The outlook at Woolgoolga was rather nice, you could see for miles and back along all the little beach towns we had visited and even the beach where we were staying at Darlington Beach Holiday Park.
Friday, we spent the day getting the kids to help us with the washing, there was a few loads to do! The kids also had lots of fun feeding the roo's that came for breakfast! Flick has so much go in her, not scared at all. Even whacked one across the nose and laughed when she done it. The roo's were great with her - still came back for more! We had dinner at the cafe where we were staying and the kids also did an activity arranged by the park - some plaster painting.
Today we have made a journey to Hastings Point. One of the reasons we came here is because there was according to the Internet, a water park. We have arrived and it's still being constructed! Shame, but there is still lots to do. Already, Trent, Pheobe and Maurice have had hair cuts at the day spa! Tomorrow the Pheobe and Maurice are wanting to be booked into the kids club to do a few more acivities - should be lots of fun! There is a pool to swim in and spa's! There is a Tennis Court, not that I think we will be using that much. There is another activities room with pool tables, table tennis, pin ball machines and other video game machines. We have an en suite site, so we are very comfy!
On our way here today we drove through many places. We stopped for morning tea at Yamba and Lunch at Ballina. Went through Byron Bay, but we will take a day trip back there for a look while we are here. It was very interesting to drive through the town - lots of people, people selling clothes and other things right outside their front doors! People playing music in the street and of course the dancers! Looking forward to going back there and checking it out!
Anyway, that's about all the news we have for now. Happy Birthday to Kylie for today, and Uncle Philip and Will Hardiman for yesterday! We hope you all have had great birthdays and know that we have been thinking of you all. Especially Will, who is in Broome with his family on their 3 month adventure!

Made it to Coffs Harbour & all is well!
Howdy Everyone!
Well, the long trip over night went very well. We left Geelong around 3pm after a quick trip to Dr. Joe (thanks for your help!). We had some stops along the way, Macca's for dinner and a change into PJ's for the kids and off we went!
Arrived in Coffs Harbour around 8am after an early morning stop for some milk at 6.30am when everyone started to wake up! The kids were so excited that we were almost there.
We picked up the Van and we couldn't wait to see how it was inside. All good, we had a bit of dust and had to throw away some things that were past their used by dates. but all in all, it was just how we left it. We hooked up and headed to our favourite park from last years trip, Darlington Beach Holiday Park. Once there, we unpacked and got ourselves set up. Then at about 12noon we realised that no one had eaten, had anything to drink and we were all a little puffed to say the least! Showers, lunch and then a trip over to the pool found us with Flick getting straight in - Clothes, shoes and all! Pheobe and Maruice followed with taking their clothes off and Jumping in too!!! They had a ball and mastered the waterslides as well. So puffed by the end of the day we were all in bed by 8pm!
Today, has been a day of getting more things organised. Grocery shopping, buying an underlay for Trent and Krista's bed - our mattress was so hard last night, so we are hoping it makes a difference. Speaking of the bed thing, the one I got for Flick was just a little too wide, so we just put her in on the bottom bunk for her first sleep and hoped for the best. She went down no worries and woke when she rolled out and hour and a half later!!! Over night she went really well and was the last to wake this morning. So, I think I may have been worried for nothing - but I won't get too excited just yet!
This morning the kids also had fun feeding the ducks - Trent caught one foe them to pat of course!!!! Flick loves them. Pheobe got the guts up to feed the roo by hand too which she is very proud of. Maurice almost but not quite. We will keep working on it and I hope that by the end of our stay here on Saturday he will to.
The weather has been great! we are all in shorts, t's and dresses etc... it gets cool at night but the days a lovely. The sun is out and we are soaking it up!
Anyway, I think that is about all that we have to report for now. When I can get my butt into gear and get photo's that we have been taking downloaded I will post some of those too.
